Easter Snapshots...

Last night we decided to experience another first with Caleb...coloring Easter eggs. It was a lot of fun, but a bit messy!! We started out fine. Caleb would use the dipper and "help" us lower an egg into the dye, but unfortunately that didn't last long. All too soon, Caleb began grabbing the eggs and dropping them into the mugs. It made me cringe every time I heard the crack as the egg hit the bottom of the mug. And forget about getting creative in your coloring...every time Brian tried to color only half the egg in any given color, Caleb would let him know he was doing it wrong and push the egg the rest of the way into the dye. He also found out he doesn't like the taste of the dye...we used little straws to stir the dye in a couple mugs and I should have known that would be an open invitation for Caleb to drink. I was disappointed I didn't have the camera ready to catch the look on his face!

We started Easter morning at church...where I was amazed that Caleb made it through the entire service without needing to leave. He likes to start out the service downstairs in the worship center dancing and singing to the music, but once the message starts (sometimes a bit before the message) he asks to go upstairs. At this point, he enjoys the rest of the service in the "Comfort Room" (a room on the second floor that overlooks the worship center, but is enclosed so he isn't expected to stay quiet). We have tried to get him to go to Sunday School, but he has been resisting that lately.

After church Caleb, Bethany and I visited at Great Grandma and Grandpa Green's house. Unfortunately, Brian wasn't able to make it...he still had another service to lead before he could join us. So, we decided he would catch up with us at his parents' house a little later on. At Great G & G Green's house, we got a little break in the rain and decided to do a little egg hunt outside. Caleb doesn't eat candy, so he enjoyed looking for the eggs and then dumping out the contents into the grass (an action that he chose to do himself).

Thank you Great Grandpa Green for giving me a little break! (Bethany has been very Mommy-centered lately. I have learned to accomplish many tasks with her attached to me in some way, but it is very nice to have a break sometimes...no matter how brief!)

After the egg hunt, we had to say hello to Danny. Caleb really enjoyed sitting on top of him. After a couple minutes we asked Caleb if he was ready to get down and he quickly responded "No, not yet!"

It didn't take long and the rain began again. Back inside...

The day wasn't over yet. We then met Brian and went over to Grandma and Pop's house, where Caleb had yet another egg hunt where he enjoyed the treats found within...fruit snacks, cheese sandwich crackers and bunny shaped snacks, and of course trucks and cars. Bethany's eggs had a selection of Fisher Price's Little People.

And this was the look we got right before he once again started emptying his eggs out, declaring "I'm making a mess!"

Easter 2009 was very busy, but full of many cherished moments!!
