Since he was in-utero Caleb has loved music. I still remember going to our musicals at the 5th Avenue Theatre where he would kick and move continuously the entire show. That interest has not been deterred. Lately, Caleb has been big on Sesame Street and Barney, both of which consist of quite a bit of music. It seems that these shows have influenced him to make up his own songs and repeat those he hears much more frequently.
His first song was "Butterfly" (or as Caleb says..."Budderdry"). He takes our travel alarm clock and clicks the button along with his dance...the song just can't be sung without the dance...and repeats "Budderdry...Budderdry...Budderdry..." as loud as he can. We find it quite entertaining! He now has a few new songs: Macaroni and Bounce de Ball being the most recent. He has also really enjoyed his Veggie Tales CD's and one song he likes to sing to is called The Thankfullness Song. He tends to pick out a phrase and repeat that throughout the song, with this one it is "...happy heart".
He is also big on a lot of the classic childrens' songs. Some of the big ones are If You're Happy and You Know It, Old McDonald, The Farmer and the Dell, I've Been Working on the Railroad, Twinkle Little Star (or as Caleb sings, "twinkle lil dar, diamonds in de dye"...all of which are tremendously enhanced if he hears the Barny or Veggie Tales versions.
I love to walk into a room and have him break out into song. It just brightens any day!
